She came to me, asked me for advice, and all I was doing was trying to be nice. She was unhappy with herself, she thought she was fat, and she asked me what I thought of the way that she acts. I told her I’d be mad if she stopped eating her food. I was trying to be nice; I didn’t mean to be rude. She kept feeling sorry for herself, kept threatening to kill, and didn’t realize that she was killing me when she said she’d take those stupid pills. I got mad and I told her that if she wasn’t happy with the way she looked, then she should try and change, but I didn’t know that she took it the wrong way, and she brought me more pain. She took it the wrong way and kept refusing her meals, until she was sick enough to be on a chair with wheels. Eventually she was so weak; she had to be taken to the hospital. They tried to make her eat, but she kept saying she was full. She was down to the point where she couldn’t move at all, 14 years old, 83 pounds, and standing 4 feet 7 inches tall. The doctors said she had up to 3 months to live, there was nothing they could do with the mistake she did. I visited her every day, and apologized for telling her what I said, but she kept saying it was her fault; it’s all in my head. One week after her birthday, she had died in her sleep. I decided that the guilt I had, I couldn’t keep. I wrote a letter to her saying everything I felt, and I read it at her funeral, but up to this day I still feel the guilt, it’s like an empty hole. It might not be my fault for trying to be nice, but I still believe that I had killed her with my advice.
