I have sex with my boyfriend. We are both Catholics and were taught to believe that sex shouldn't happen unless you sre married. We were also taught that you have sex with the intent of bringing new life into the world therefore contraception shouldn't be used. We love each other and that is why we have sex. Maybe other people would think ill us having sex as we are both only 16 and we don't plan on having children at this stage in our lives but we love each other and believe we are right in doing what we do.
I know that I am not ready to bring a child into the world. However if I fell pregnant tomorrow I would have no choice. I couldn't go through the trauma of having an abortion. I would be killing another human being which is not right. God gives us life and life is a precious gift which we should all appreciate. Only God is able to give life so surely He should be the only one who can take away our lives. Why do people believe that they have the right to decide whether a child lives or dies? No-one has the right to anything. If we have rights, who has the right to grant us these rights?
Even if a woman has been raped I still oppose the option of abortion. The child has done nothing wrong so why punish the child by taking it's life from it? That is not right. After the birth of the child the woman could look at other options like adoption. I realise that I have never been in this situation and so don't have firsthand experience but I believe that abortion can always be avoided.
If a woman falls pregnant and resorts to taking the morning after pill this is still a form of abortion. The sperm and egg have fused and by taking the pill you are destroying a forming child. This is wrong. As a Catholic I am taught that contraception is wrong however I believe that having an abortion is a bigger since than using a condom. A condom stops the sperm and egg from meeting whereas the morning after pill is not a form of contraception but another way of having an abortion.
If a condom splits and the woman falls pregnant it is her and the father of the baby's responsibility. They should have thought about everything that could go wrong and they should be responsible enough to deal with every scenario if they believe they are ready to have sex with one another.
Abortion is the equivalent to murdering another human being. This would not be tolerated so neither should abortion. A mureder would be punished for making the decision to kill but a mother who decides to kill her baby isn't punished for her actions. This seems hypocritical.
I strongly oppose abortion in all circumstances however I understand that many people hold different views than those of mine and i appreciate and understand that. However even after having read about people who have undergone abortion it makes my feelings concerning the subject even stronger as so many people seem to regret having abortions. They often felt forced into it due to lack of support from families and the baby's father and felt there was no other option. There are always other options. You just have to have faith and believe in God. He will always be there for you if you believe, no matter what.
In the end it's up to the mother involved. This seems unfair in many ways because it's as much the father's baby as it is the mother's. Surely the father should have some say? However I think that if someone is considering abortion they should think hard and carefully about their final decision because it willundoubtedly change their lives forever. They will always look back on what might have been or what should have been.
Remember; God gives life and only God has the right to take life away from us.
