Knock Knock, Scratch Scratch

A guy is driving through a remote area on a dark moonless night when his car breaks down. Unable to fix his car he starts walking, after a while he sees a light in the distance and decides to head for it. Sometime later he is at a large wooden door to an ancient building, he knocks on the door. A monk answers, the guy explains his predicament and asks for a room for the night to which the Monk obliges and asks him in.
The Monk leads him down a long corridor and explains that he is the only person that has lived there for years, they arrive at a bedroom and the Monk shows him in. The Monk tells him that no matter what happens in the night he must not go into the room at the end of the corridor. So the Guy retires to bed.
About 2am the Guy hears a noise coming from down the corridor, knock knock, scratch scratch, knock knock, scratch scratch, eventually he decides to get up and investigate. He gets to the end of the corridor, there is a door from behind he hears, knock knock, scratch scratch, knock knock, scratch scratch, so he goes to open the door. Out from the shadows leaps the Monk and tells the Guy that he had already told him not to go into this room, he says that only Monks are allowed into the room. The Guy returns to bed.
About an hour later the Guy hears the noise again, knock knock, scratch scratch, knock knock, scratch scratch, so again he goes down the corridor and again the Monk leaps out and tells him that only Monks are allowed into the room. To shorten a long story this happens several times throughout the night. Finally the Guy snaps and asks the Monk how he can become a Monk and find out what is in the room. The Monk tells him it will take twelve months training.
The Guy starts his training the next day but he hears nothing for the first six months then one night he hears knock knock, scratch scratch, knock knock, scratch scratch, so he runs down the corridor. The Monk grabs him and tells him that he is not a Monk yet.
Twelve months has passed and the next day he becomes a Monk, he retires to bed. He is woken by the noise knock knock, scratch scratch, knock knock, scratch scratch. He goes down the corridor but the Monk grabs him and tells him that he is not a Monk until tomorrow, he will be able to go in then.
The fateful day arrive, the Guy is now a Monk. He decides not to go straight into the the room but will wait until he hears the noise again. The weeks went by then one night he hears a noise, knock knock, scratch scratch, knock knock, scratch scratch, so he goes down the corridor. As he is about to open the door the Monk leaps out from the shadows, but, this time says that it was O.K. for the the Guy to go in because he was now a Monk.
The Guy put his hand on the old brass door handle and pressed. It was obvious that the door had not been opened for some time. Slowly the heavy door creaked open and the Guy cautiously stepped into the room, he looked around and THERE IT WAS
