1 best friend

There are many people in our lives who we really depend upon. There are many more people who we take for granted. And a best friend is definitely one of them. How many times have you woken up feeling like it's the worst ever day on earth, and called up your best friend, who immediately cheered you up? Friends are people who are always there - yet, they are people who we can never appreciate. Friends do sweet and sentimental things, thoughtful things which bring tears to our eyes. Friends are like comic strips - no matter how squat you feel, they can turn your frown upside down. Here's a poem I wrote for my best friend, a poem to say....

                        Thank you

Every day I count my blessings over and over again
And they are you
Somehow, words aren't enough when I want to thank you
For all the wonderful things you do
I sat on the beach
Letting the sand slip through my fingers
I was alone
I had everything...yet, something just wasn't there
That something was you
I missed you when I walked on the sands of time
We're separated for two months
Two whole, entire, long months
This is the first time in my life that I hate summer holidays
I'm waiting for you to come back
I miss you more than I miss myself
August 3rd, Friendship Day, you weren't here
And at night, with tears in my eyes, I remembered you
I think of you every single moment of the day
And thank God...
That you're there in my life
Though I've told you a thousand times
You are still unaware
About how much I miss you
And how much you mean to me
If I am salt, you are my pepper
Because you have pulled me through
The tough three months of the first semester of ninth grade
Seemed to last FOREVER
And problems kept cropping up
One after another
Each one worse than the one before
And I didn't think I had the strength
To deal with the problems
I tried to suicide
Till I found out how much I meant to you
Still, I felt rotten
And tried again
But it was your words that kept me from succeeding
When you saw me cry
And told me that my pain was your pain
I vowed never to cry in front of you again
You make me laugh
Every time we speak
I just wanted to say...

This is for my best friend. A lot of people tease me about him, but it doesn't matter. We've still stuck together, and I'm ever so grateful cos my best friend saved my life
