we see people die
as we watch them lye
lye on the ground
not makin a sound
he was just beaten
he was on his way to a "courting" meeting
i see him laying in the hospital bed
he had surgery done on his head
i see dried blood
on his clothes which are covered in mud
i sit in the chair beside him
i seem him lying so limb
i have a dream and him i see
and he's telling this girl about me
she seems to really care
because she doesnt just look off and stare
i see a man behind my brother
and behind that man stands another
the first man has a bat
and he looks at the girl and tips his cowboy hat
shane doesnt realize the two men there because he is in bliss
because of these men shane is whom i miss
they beat him with a bat
then he lay on the ground flat.
a call was made to me and my mother
to tell us what had happened to my dear brother
i started to cry
and wanted to die
to think my brother was takin from me
because those men didnt see
didnt see what he meant to us
us his family and his friends plus
his future nieces and nephews and his own kids
they placed a lid
of my dear brothers life
they cut his life rope with a knife
so on this day i do remember
all the times in december
when shane was home on leave
and home he came to see me
i was his little sister that he loved dear
and so i live on another year.
