perfect could be classified as an adjective(a word used to describe something), but, as you said, there is no such thing as perfect, so it cannot be used as an adjective, so we will throw that idea out.  I, personally, think of the word perfect as a noun.  A noun is a person, place, thing, or idea.  Perfect is an idea, like freedom.  It's not really a tangible or reachable thing, but it's something everyone reaches for....anyway, that's what I think.
