1 actually you need to know this before sterotyping...

Hi, I am just writing to let you know that the whole STEREOTYPING is a whole bunch of crap. So before you start to label anything, stop and realise that NOTHING can be categorised unless it is unoriginal and is stealing someone else's ideas. For example just because you dress the same way to someone and like similar bands does not necessarily mean you can be compared. Everyone is an individual and similar TASTES does NOT make you all part of one social group. In my school it is not so bad but I read about how teens in high schools are putting people into categories.

The same with music. Yes it has been called a particular genre because it shares similar qualities. Just because it becomes chart music does not mean it should lose the respect the band's hard work made them achieve. Yes the band may be secret for years before they got off the ground and now they are in the chart but stop to think. They are NEVER too cool to listen to because a person who values music for what it is - and it makes them feel good - should not care what someone's OPINION labels and CATEGORISES it as.

Also if someone is say a punk what is a punk? People begin to say the list of stereotypical things like: They only ever listen to Punk rock - NO they don't my friend likes rap, pop and even some country. And all Punks dress in ripped clothes with pins chains and spikes - NO my friend dresses in normal clothing and only occasionally would he ever wear what a punk is expected to dress in. All punks have a bad attitude because of the ANARCHY messages - not all punk is about rebelling against society my friend does not care about the whole thing. In fact it was an image created by the late Sid Vicious in the 1970s and still people say the whole punk image should be like this. NO way if you like music that you listen to as punk who cares what anyone else should think.

STEREOTYPING is a form of RACISM. People judge group of people with one skin colour because of an average image which makes people avoid them. The same with stereotypes. A person who is labelled as a geek/freak/unpopular would be a social outcast because they are different. The world as a whole are hypocrites should they only listen to a person before judging them. I know that my punk friend is best friends with someone who loves rap and dance music and this does not jeopardise their friendships just because of their diffrerences. And what differences should they even be? WE ARE ALL HUMAN BEINGS WITH FEELINGS AFTER ALL.
