The Day I Lost My Best Friend

Today was normal,
Or so i thought,
As first period dragged by slowly,
And sleep i fought.
Second was the same,
But something different was about to happen.
Loud shots rang in my ears,
As did the cries of all my peers.
My teacher, you know the one I hate,
Ushered me into a corner,
And told me just to wait.
Your class came into the room,
And i embraced you,
Because you're ever so dear.
The I heard the shooter say,
"Get on the floor! Right now! Right here!"
I started to cry,
When i thought of who it was.
Your ex was staring back at me,
I told you he was a fraud.
Later, he told some people to go with him,
You were one of them.
He shoved you through the door,
As I prayed to God he wouldn't hurt you anymore.
When at last the killers were caught,
And we were all outside,
I looked so very frantically,
but you I couldn't find.
Some one told me you were dying,
I wouldn't believe it was true.
He showed me where you were lying,
And i tried to talk to you.
All you would say,
Is that we will never part.
You love me,
And always keep you in my heart.
I said, "NO! Don't leave me now,
What will I do when you are gone?"
You said you'd always be with me,
You'd be in my heart for ever so long.
Your breaths are getting shorter now,
I'm trying not to cry.
The ambulance is here to take you,
They said you'd be just fine.
The next week at school,
They mentioned those that died.
Your name wasn't one of them,
Of course you were still alive.
When i got home from school that day,
Mom said that you had passed away.
I wouldn't believe anything she said,
I drove up to the hospital instead.
I ran up to your room so fast.
You were gone,
It didn't last.
Now you're with God,
That's all I know,
Until we meet again,
I love you and miss you so.
