I agree. Cheerleading IS a sport. I'm even going to try out for bball cheer this year just to have something to do during the basketball season. I've already started doing the stretches, running more, weightlifting, and jumps my house and afterwards you feel like you've accomplished something and you feel stronger mentally physically.
Last year I played volleyball softball but this year I will be participating in volleyball and track field. And since I made this entry I decided just to put on some stuff about volleyball too...
Some people say volleyball isn't a sport. Well, I hate to break it to you but it is a sport. There are plenty of sports in the world and even if you don't like volleyball, you don't have to go around saying that it isn't a sport. Most people are just jealous because they see how much fun and dedication that is put into volleyball and they want to be a part of it but will never be able to because they have already decided that they will be anti-volleyball. This year in volleyball we had to run a mile everytime our team lost a game (which we only won 2 of our 15+ games so we had to run a lot). Once a week we would have to lift do conditioning since we're only in jr. high but in high school the volleyball teams have to lift and condition a lot more. At my school the cheerleading squad is so competitive (they were state champs last year) that the other sports are overlooked, but we still have a lot of girls who want to play volleyball just for the heart soul of the game. For some people that takes a lot to be considered "unpopular" and to play volleyball. If we missed one practice or were even 1 minute late to practice we had to run more. We did a lot of drills and wall sits (ugh lol).
In volleyball you make tons of friends, even ones from your rival teams. It is very enjoyable just having fun singing on the bus with fellow teammates to an away game or even just blasting music in the gym to get you pumped up when you have a home game. It's also fun to watch 8th graders play and cheer for them.
This year my brother, who is a junior in high school, ran cross country for the first time in his life. All throughout the season he was never in first place but he was never in last place either because he was dedicated and practiced tons. Now since he has ran that sport I have seen how TRUELY hard it is to run. I always thought it would be easy to go out and run 3 miles but it is TRUELY hard for some of us who are sprinters and non-long-distance people. For that, I really respect cross country runners and any sports player in general.
In conclusion, I would just like to say that no one should be anti-any sport. I played softball last year even though I dislike it. Why did i do that you say? It was because I actully wanted to give it a try before I decided that I didn't like it and even though I dislike softball I'm not anti-softball. I still go to games and even play it sometimes with my friends.
