Olay first of all, im a 14 year old girl from the U.S. I am not here to put down Canada, because Canada is a perfectly nice place, and If i didn't live here, i wouldn't mind living in Canada. But it is the things that some people say about the U.S. that make me upset.
First of all, people say that America is just full of a bunch of greedy selfish people. Although I disagree with President Bush's decision to invade Iraq, as a country, it is our duty to support him, and our troops. Yes, people did die, and it was unnecessary, but look at the people who Saddam Hussein killed, and the oppression he put upon his own country. Maybe it's not our responsibility to stir up things over there, but when you watch t.v. and see people celebrating when Hussein was taken out of power, and hear people saying that they are thankful that they are free. I would rather be free than in the tirany and oppression of a dictator, wouldn't you? My brother is over in Iraq, and kids like to go by the american soldiers and aren't mean or resentful. Sure, some people are resentful and upset, but there is no situation where there can be a true resolution where everyone is happy. Although people disagree with President Bush's decision, there is NOTHING wrong with supporting the leader of your country.
People say President Bush invaded to get money from Oil. And that we did it because we're selfish and greedy. If we we're truly selfish, why would we take money from our own country, my school has taken a huge budget cut, and use it to rebuild Iraq and give them a functional government, not one where people are killed for no legitimate reason.
Second, I read one opinion where someone said it was stupid we sing songs about santa and snow, because we don't get snow. A lot of the country gets snow. I live in Wisconsin, where we have tons of snow during the winter. You also say we have no wilderness, or 'nature'. Although there is a lack of such in some parts of the country, we have forests and everything you do to. We're not that far away, you know.
Something that also agrivates me, is when people put down George Bush, and his 'low intelligence'. Maybe Bush didn't make the right decision to invade Iraq, which is obviously debatable, but he has support from a lot of the country, and he went with what he believed in, which is not wrong. Somebody said he had the intelligence of a dung beetle. Does somebody with the intelligence of a dung beetle get into Yale, AND Harvard(for his bachelor degree and his masters).
Okay, even I knew that Canada's leader has the title of prime minister, not president. But they have nearly identical definitions, although are seperate terms. Just because somebody didn't know that, or was unaware, doesn't mean they deserved to be called a retard. I wouldn't be offended if somebody called him Prime Minister Bush. Actually, its kind of catchy.
Now the most important one, beer(notice the sarcasm). For one i don't drink, seeing as it is illegal for me to do so, but i know a LOT of people who do drink, and they drink American brands most of the time. Maybe yours tastes better, which is all a matter of opinion, and by definition, an opinion CANNOT be wrong. Why would people buy american which apparently tastes like urine, when they can go down the aisle in the supermarket and buy canadian beer. Because some people prefer it to american beer, and there isnt anyhting wrong with having likes and dislikes. On a similar note, how would you know what Urine tastes like?
On my last note, yes it is true that a lot of countries have hatred towards the U.S. But what's the easiest thing to do when your not the most powerful? Hate the country that is.
