a poem for the soldiers
Rating:
Quality: (Quality: Unrated)
My uncle left for Iraq on February 16, 2004, and I miss him terribly. Here's a poem I wrote for him and all the other brave men and women in Iraq. Please send this on as a tribute to everyone who puts their lives in danger so we can be safe.
The Price of Liberty
The smile on my face is less,
The sun seems farther away.
The days go by much more slowly,
But I know that you must stay.
Fathers separated from their families,
In my head it doesn't seem right.
But my heart knows you must do this,
For the red, the blue, and the white.
I'm proud of what you've given up,
Even though it pains me inside.
It's worth all the nights I've been upset,
It's worth all the nights that I've cried.
I wouldn't ask you home any sooner,
Because I know this has to be done,
For many many good reasons,
but Love, the most important one.
It's hard to be here with you gone,
And I know it's not easy for you.
But this is the price of Liberty,
Something since birth we all knew
