A POEM I WROTE

tears flow from my sad eyes
standing in the place he last said goodbye
while he held me in his arms
keeping me from all the harm
whispering silently in my ear
all the sweet nothings I wanted to hear
oh, how life can fly by so fast
living in the present, remembering the past
silent shadows lurking in corners
laughing ones becoming mourners
why do so many die?
being ripped from our lives
tearing happy familys apart
does Death have no heart?
drunk drivers, car wrecks
alcohol overdose, rough sex
cant we learn from others' mistakes?
all the anger we have, all the hate
I know I learned from what I did
taking the car keys, acting like a kid
screeching tires leaving the bar
in and out of traffic, all the cars
u-turn on the freeway
head on collision, by the way
I committed such a sin
God forgive me, I killed my boyfriend
bright lights, then black
all for nothing, for him no turning back
his life so short
but in me he still holds a special part
he taught me between right and wrong
and if not for my bad choice, his life would've been long
ive seen the errror of my ways
I live with myself day after day
and I always keep my head held high
so learn from my story
