Torn Between Friend and Lover *

To be torn between two people has got to be one of the worst feelings in the world.
Not knowing whether your heart belongs to the one who's heart you have,
or if it belongs to the one who doesn't know they have it.
Sure, it may sound silly, but it's true.
And it's hard.
The cold, hard, sad truth.
Like a statue of a woman crying.
Standing there in the middle of a town in the rain,
the cold droplets making her cry,
leaving streaks on her young face.
That's how I feel inside.
Like crying; crying stone cold tears
Like my heart is stone
Knowing that I might hurt one by loving the other,
or leave one in the dark, never knowing that they were loved by me.
Never telling anyone would hurt even more
but telling the wrong people could cause more pain;
as would getting the wrong advice, making the wrong choice
Where do I go from here? Do I take a leap of faith?
Or would that cause me to tumble and fall into the abyss of loneliness?
Or do I stay where I am, like that statue, never reaching out to the unknown?
And would staying where I am cause me to be a statue, never really loving at all?
These questions run through my mind constantly now
That is how I know I am human, not statue, nor stone.
I know because I have emotions, feelings, a mind for these questions to rack.
I know because I have emotions,
and these emotions are tearing me apart.
