Ok, there seems to be some misunderstandings about rebels (ya know punks, freaks, goths, ect.) Yes, we do hate preps. And we do see things differently.
To contradict some other forwards, I say:
“Guys like preps better cuz we’re better dressed and just plain nicer.”
Ok, yea right If all that matters is looks, then the dude is shallow and no rebel would date him anyways. Oh, by the way, I’m a punk and I have a boyfriend And the whole “we’re nicer” thing is bullsht Preps are the ones going around dissing on punks and thinking they’re better then everyone else. And punks just keep to themselves and leave other people alone. So, if being a btch suddenly became being nice, then of course preps are nicer Yea, my asss

All right, I have a personal comment to make. Again I state that I’m a punk, also am I a straight A student. I get straight A’s; I’m in the gifted class, and most of the teachers in my school like me. And I know of other punks who also try in school.
“Our music isn’t as degrading.”
Oh, pulease Well, since most preps I know listen to Rap, I’ll use that as an example. All rappers rap about is pretty girls, bein’ rich, “Cadalacs”, and sex. And then there’s that pop shit. “Oooh, look at me, I’m Justin Timberlake. I’m so pretty and I still have a high-pitched singing voice. I tried to sing some deeper songs, but nobody takes me seriously because deep down I know I’m a loser Sob, sob” At least our music is about stuff that’s real. Not just real, but actually important. Like family trouble, suicide, dealing with all the shit in ours lives, and things of that sort.

Oh, just shut the f up already about being so perfect My family has money too. Just because I don’t spend it on 80 dollar jeans and 200 dollar shoes, doesn’t mean I couldn’t if I wanted to. I prolly have more money then a lot of you preps, I just don’t go around sayin’ “Look at me, I have money Bling, Bling”

Right up there, you state that you are a punk, and punks keep to themselves and don't talk crap about people. This entire forward is you dissing on preps. I'm definately not a prep, a good label for me, if I must resort to such a childish thing, would be "anti-conformist." However, I do know some preps who are nice, as well as ones who are evil kiniving jerks. It works both ways. There are nice and mean people from all genres.
The trying in school thing? People from every walk of high school society (which doesn't matter in the real world anyway) vary. Some pass with flying colors, while others get bad grades and flunk out. It happens with everybody, not just "preps" or "punks."
About music. It is true. Punk music, well what I consider punk music, deals with real issues. Problems with the government, society, suicide, etc. Rap music is ridiculously materialistic and degrading towards women.
I can't believe you call yourself a punk rocker and go about bragging about your mommys money. I'm betting you do spend a lot on clothes, such as things that are "totally punk rock" on the shelves of that wretched place called Hot Topic. "Punks" don't go around buying everything with their parents money, so they usually end up broke as hell. It's a lifestyle, not a meaningless fad. So quit labeling yourself. I believe I smell a prep caught in the modern fad of punk rock.
