1 STEREOTYPES THAT DONT MAKE SENSE

Ok honestly, tell me if this all makes sense. Yes, its about "punks" and "preps" and i'm not going to take sides or tell u if i'm more "punk" or "prep" i'm just trying to make you think about this.

'Preps only shop at a/f type stores, and punks only shop at hoptopic type stores'...its they're "style" and preps hate the punk style, and punks hate the prep style, when its their own way of expressing themselves. they wear what they want.

'punks think that preps are all the same, and that they themselves are "individuals".' to punks preps may all look the same, but to preps, punks all look the same. for preps its always stuff like polo shirts, vintage stuff, khakis, fitted jeans, u kno wut i'm saying...and for punks its mostly black and pink (yes i've seen punks wear plenty of pink) and fishnets, and thats stereotypical right? but if you think about it, not really. preps all look like "preps" and punks all look like "punks" neither group is more individual.

'preps are mean and self obsorbed. punks are mean' if you get to kno a prep, they're nice. if you get to kno a punk, they're nice. its just this neverending battle between punks and preps (which no one really knows how it started anyways) that make the groups dislike each other. the reason why preps are not nice to punks is because preps think that punks hate them. and the reason why punks are mean to preps is because they think that preps hate them.

'preps listen to pop/rap/rb. punks listen to alternative/punk' well even though the punk part may be true because it is what makes them a "punk" afterall, its not all they listen to. and what makes you say preps listen to pop/rap/rb? some preps hate that music. and why do the groups hate the other group's taste in music? its the same with clothes, who really cares what they like, i mean music is music, and not one is better than the other.

'preps are too cheerful. punks are too sad' preps have their own problems and they may be more happy on the outside maybe because they tend to be more popular. punks may seem sad to preps because they're not as popular, and somehow everyone has the fact that "popular people are happy, unpopular people are depressed" programmed into their minds. punks can be happy people, and you have no idea the types of problems that preps deal with.

'preps are all cheerleaders' on our school's cheerleading squad, there are "punks" and there are "preps" but most people are neither.

'preps are stereotypical' um..hello??? are punks stereotypical? no. are preps stereotypical? no. if you think about it, the only stereotype that is true is that preps and punks (for the most part i'm not saying EVERYONE) thinks that the other group is stereotypical.

well this is all i can think of for the moment, but one last thing. why do punks "hate" preps, and why do preps "hate" punks? no one really knows. i mean you can make all the lists you want about "why punks suck" or "why preps suck" and what do you get? a whole lotta replies contradicting you (which i'm sure this list will get also) but the reason that neither group is able to accept the other is because both groups are too stuck up to want to accept the other. if the first group learns to accept the second, then the second will learn to accept the first.

preps dont want to accept punks because it'll make them unpopular, and punks dont want to accept preps because they're just using you. but is it true? for the most part no. its all stereotypes.

and have you noticed how most people lable themselves "punk" but no one really cares enough to lable themselves "prep"? i mean it seems that on the internet, its "okay" to be punk but not to be prep. why? is it because punks are more "individual"? no. preps are just as individual as punks, and just as not. because of these beliefs? the whole world has taken sides.

is this really the kind of society that we want to live in? where dressing a certain way makes you a certain person? where listening the music gives you a certain type of personality? where having certain friends makes you part of a "group"? i'm sure the answer is no.

so i'll leave you with the dictionary definition of a punk and a prep. but first, think of the preppiest girl in your school, and the biggest punk in your school. then read the dictionary definitions, and tell me if thats EXACTLY what he/she is.

punk: an aggressive and violent young criminal
prep: To be enrolled in and attend a preparatory school.

this is all MY opinion, and i kno that you have a different opinion, and thats to be respected, which is exactly what i'm trying to say. everyone should have their own opinion without being classified a certain way, so dont bother doing a "reply" to this (if you want to, no ones stopping you) because you'll be wasting your time. you'd be better off writing your own instead of responding to every single comment i've made.
