1 a very true story - the meaning of friendship

I was 10, i had moved house and had to move schools. mel had came to see me before my first day of school as she lived down the same road.
i soon got used to my new school, well it wasn't new as i had spent my first 2 years of school there, but i had moved schools, and now i had came back here for the last year before i went to senior school.
I rememberd some of the people who i used to know in year 1 and 2. but Strangly mel had been in my class yet we had never really been close friends then. And now we were best friends. She was the best of best friends, i could tell her anything, and i told her everything. we shared our secrets, our past, our crushes, our thoughts and worries, everthing everybody knew we were best friends. I had other friends but no one was the same as Mel, there was something about her, i could trust her completly. and being with her was great. we had so much fun, laughing and joking and playing. we were so close and she ment so much to me.
In the time we knew each other we never argued once. we were better than best friends and we were inseperable. We Both went to the same sinior school. We were both shy, but that didnt matter because at least we had each other to talk to. Beacause of how shy we were we didnt really mix with most of the popular people in our year, and most people in our form didnt respect us. most people ignored us. but still that didnt really bother us. we made lots of friends with a lot of other people, who were in different forms.
By the end of year 7 we had a big group of lovely friends, we often all went down town together at weekends. were in year 9 now and most of us have boyfriends, including me and Mel.
one day something happened that changed how close me and mel were. Mel was crying because of family problems i hugged her and comforted her and cheered her up. then as she cried in my arms she looked up at me. and put her arms around my neck. we were so close, such good friends and every minute with her was great. i leaned my head on hers and i felt her lips touch mine. i tasted her tear as is fell from her eye to her lips. we kissed... i couldn't belive what was happening, The thought of lezbeins made me feel sick, but for some reason it felt so write kissing Mel. i pulled my head away and looked at her. she looked so sad, yet so innocent.
We kissed again, And again it felt so right, so good, it didnt seem like anything was wrong, we werent lezbeins, we both had boyfriends, but we were such close friends and kissing her was like a way of showing my love for her, as a friend.
We didnt go any further than kissing, that wouldn't be right. i wasnt sexually attracted to her, i was straight and so was she.
But for some reason kissing was our way of showing our Friendship and care for each other, even thought most people associate it with love, it wasn't that kind of lezbein love, it was the love of two good friends.
This has bought us closer together, even closer friends than we were before. And sometimes we kiss, but nobody knows, its our secret, a secret shared between two great friends, nothing more. We still have our boyfriends, but they don't know about our secret. As they say Freinds are forn life but boyfriends come and go. im hoping to keep my boyfriend for as long as possible because i love him very much, but nothing compares to the love of my best friend Mel.
