I don't know who wrote the 5th reply to this and I haven't read the original, but I just wanted to share some stuff from my personal life and understanding of God. I believe that God doesn't choose who goes to Heaven and who goes to Hell. By sending his only Son to die for us as a pure sacrifice to pay the debt for all of the wrongs we do, God gave EVERY individual human being the ability to choose to have a relationship with Him (through prayer and studying the Bible and whatnot... I know some people who believe God comes down to earth once a month and has sex with people. This is not true. God is a loving being and cares about us. He created sex for our enjoyment and for reproductive purposes within the confines of marriage. Why then would He come have sex with random people to whom he is not married? At the same time, He forgives those who abuse sex (i.e., premarital sex) and seek His forgiveness for that wrong (or any wrong for that matter). Anyways, God loves us. He created us and He wants us to want to spend time with Him. So He gave us that option through the sacrifice of Jesus and his victory over death 3 days later. This created the availability for us to have direct access to God. Jesus is like a bridge between us and God so that we can talk to Him anytime we want. I have seen God answer prayers, guys, and it is pretty awesome. But, you have to remember that when asking God for something, He knows what is best or you. He knows everything that is going to happen before it happens. He knows. And, with this knowledge, He may answer "yes", "no", or "wait". To enter into a personal relationship with God, all He asks is that you confess your wrongs to Him (for which He offers abundant forgiveness and even peace if only you ask), admit (and truly believe in your heart) that Jesus Christ died on a cross for you and then rose from the grave so that you may have eternal life (not on earth, but in Heaven where everything is perfect and beautiful). Once you have done this (and done it sincerely- God knows your heart and your motives...), you are saved. You will spend your eternity in Heaven. It is not your own actions that get you to Heaven as some people may believe, but God's mercy and grace- God's pardoning of your sins (wrongs). (Ephesians 2:4-5- If you don't have a Bible, you can go to Bible.com to read it, but I would suggest reading it in the New Internation Version (NIV) on that site rather than King James (KJV)) Furthermore, once you are saved, you can never lose your salvation. So, because I have confessed my sins to Goc and confessed that He is the Lord of my life, I am 100 sure that I am going to spend eternity in Heaven, no matter how many times I mess up in life. Of course I try to not mess up because I love God and He loves me and it hurts Him to see me sin because those rules in the Bible, those commandments, are there for our protection as much as anything else. It hurts me when I sin and God doesn't like to see His creation hurting. The first and greatest commandment Jesus tells us, is to love God and the second is to love others as much as or even more than we love ourselves. If you're truly loving God though, this will often just pour out naturally. Anyways. Thats my two cents. I hope it touches some of you.
