A Gift that Lasts Forever

Having a little trouble selecting a Christmas gift for a friend or family member? Or are you absolutely broke? A friend sent me some suggestions. Read her list and see if one of these gifts would be appreciated by someone you know: The gift of listening. Really listening. No interrupting, no planning your reponse. Just listening. The gift of affection. Generous with appropriate hugs, kisses, pats on the back, and handholds. Show your love for family and friends. The gift of laughter. Share funny articles, stories, and cartoons. Your gift will say,"I love to laugh with you". The gift of a written note. A simple "thanks for the help" note or a full sonnet. A brief, handwritten note may be remembered for a lifetime. The gift of a compliment. A sincere "you look great in red", "you did a super job", or "you are so special" can make somone's day. The gift of a flavor. Going out of your way to do something kind. The gift of solitude. There are times when we want nothing more than to be left alone. Be sensitive to those times and give the gift of solitude to others. The gift of a cheerful disposition. The easiest way to feel good is to make others feel good. How about another precious gift? How about telling your friends or family about the gift you have received-- forgiveness of sin through Christ? Share with them that we are seperated from GOD because of our sin and that sin demands the payment of death. That payment was met 2000 years ago when Jesus died on the cross. Through faith in HIM, we too live forever with GOD. But each of us must personally accept HID gift of eternal life. As you begin this month of celebration and gift-giving, why not share the good news of salvation? Similar to gifts above, it takes only a little effort and even gives some pleasure back to you. It is the best gift anyone could receive because it lasts forever.
