Life And Friends

Sometimes it’s good and sometimes it’s bad.
Good feelings, bad feelings, happy and sad.
Changes come about creating a new,
And whether we like them or not we bid them ado.
And just like the friends you’ve learned to grow and love,
You feel they were sent by the Lord from above.
You’ll go on to college and friends will move away,
You hope you’ll see them again someday.
You’re all grown up now and out on your own,
When you decide to pay a visit to a friend back home.
She arrives at your door and has changed so much,
But the one thing that hasn’t changed is her touch.
She gives you a hug and you hug back,
You’re so emotional you’re about to crack!
You sit down and start to talk about the past.
Oh how you wish forever this day would last!
She must go home now and get some rest,
As she leaves you see that of all of your friends she’s the best.
Today is your wedding day and as you walk down the isle,
You look up and see her standing there with a smile.
She steps up and wipes a tear from your eye,
And she steps back and tries not to cry.
Now it’s your 50th anniversary and she’s standing there with you.
By now you know she’s a friend who will always be true……
This time you’re standing all alone,
As you stare at her name carved in the marble stone.
You know that you have shared both good times and bad,
And that she would not want you to be sad.
There’s one thing you don’t understand though,
Why did she have to be the first one to go?
You move on with your life and the time grows near,
As you lie in your bed your heart fills with fear!
Your family is around you and suddenly everything goes black,
You know now that there is no turning back.
Now you are looking straight into God’s eyes,
You see her, an angel; on golden wings she flies.
You enter into Heaven and come together,
Now true friends you shall be always and forever.
I tell you now; some friends are the best,
So be true because God may be putting you to the test.
During your time on earth if you are faithful and true,
Two spots in Heaven are reserved for a friend and you.
