The light bulb, phonograph (record player), motion picture projector were invented by Thomas Edison in his Menlo Park laboratory. New Jersey is home to the Miss America pageant held in Atlantic City. The first intercollegiate football game was played in New Brunswick, in 1889 Rutgers College played Princeton. Rutgers won. The first Drive-In Movie theater was opened in Camden.
