Back on track

I sit mostly alone,
And why I can't say.
You take one glance upon me,
then you sneer and walk away.
I am shunned for my unruly hair,
My lack of make-up, and brandname-less clothes.
To you it doesn't matter if I have a good soul.
Some people think,
That I am depressed.
Just because I haven't
passed your popularity test.
This isn't quite true,
For you are the one living a lie,
pretending to be happy and rich,
though hen you get home, all you do is cry.
The moment your "friends"
found out you weren't rich,
it was only a matter of seconds before they gave you the ditch.
When you jumped,
off the bridge late that night,
I thought you fell,
it gave me quite a fright.
Quickly to save you,
I jumped in.
You flailed your arms;
I thought you couldn't swim.
The water was cold,
It wasn't much fun.
But worse, when I pulled you out,
you called me everything under the sun.
The words you spat,
surprised me so much.
I realized you didn't fall;
That it was not an accident or such.
After you calmed,
and realized who I was,
you asked why I had done it,
I replied, "Just because."
I thought you were in trouble,
and truly you are.
Much more than I thought.
I then guided you to my car.
I pulled in my drive,
my curfew long past.
But my parents, who trusted me,
Had when to bed at last.
I took you upstairs,
and gave you my bed.
You went to sleep,
the moment the pillow touched your head.
The next morning,
I worked to get you the help you need.
So that's your life,
you'd be able to lead.
Now several months later,
you're back on track.
You were on one side of the black curtain,
now you'll never look back.
I no longer sit alone,
and why I can say.
You know better than to just take one glance at me,
now you don't just walk away.
