My Last Dance......

For my last dance, no one was there,
I danced, and I moved without a single care.
I spun around like I did in life,
I tried for perfection; I tried for sharpness, like a knife.
Like the knife that killed my dreams,
Like the knife that made me scream.
Every year of my life was represented by a new dance,
Until I took so much, too much, and entered a killing trance.
A trance of death; A trance of sorrow.
It made me give up; No more dancing come tomorrow.
My legs became weak and could no longer hold,
At the same time my head and my heart turned pale and cold.
My arms wouldn't move the way I wanted them to,
I tried to work with what i had, but nothing would do.
I tried to spin the way I used to, but I fell to the floor.
My body and soul just couldn't take anymore.
My mind went crazy, spinning around.
I only heard that familiar heart-breaking sound.
I wondered why I couldn't do the things I used to be able to do,
I should have, could have been helped if only someone knew.
I layed there helplessly, struggling to lift my head,
It hit me then; my dance was dead.
If only I would have taken the chance,
To ask someone to watch my last dance.......
