Hi! My name is Danielle. I was in a car accident 6 years ago. I was going home from my gram and paps house one night (they live in Pittsburgh) and was so tired so I just fell asleep and like 20 mins. after I had feel asleep the next thing you know my ma's van get's hot and we go flying in the air. The van turned over in mid air 2 times and then landed on the roof of it. There was 5 of us in the van. It was my ma, my brother, my sister, me, and a foriegn exchange student from Germany. We were alll wearig our seat belts except for my sister. She was sitting in the front passenger seat while I was in the way back where we got hit at. There were two car accidents that night, one with us and the other with another car that got hit by the same driver who hit us. The driver who hit us was really drunk. I don't remember the whole car accident because I think I blacked-out. Where I was sitting at if I didn't have my seatbelt on then I could have flew out the back window and died. It's by the grace of God that my gram had told us to wear our seatbelts because of the cops out there that were pulling you over if you didn't have them on. Thank God I listened to her! When the car had landed on the roof I was stuck upside down and also I couldn't get outta my seatbelt. I was so tangled in it that when my ma went to get me out of it she had to get my sister to help her and they thought both of my arms were cut off by the seatbelt. Finally after 5 mins. of them trying to get me out they got me out. I don't even remember them trying to get me out. I think i was in a daze or something. During the turning of the van though I felt someone holding me there and not letting me go. My seat could've popped out but it didn't. Well we all got out and was standing there and I just wen into shock and I was bleeding everywhere and I was yelling I want my daddy, where's my daddy. When the firemen and ambulance and police got there I was still yelling that only louder this time and it took a fireman and a nurse who lived near by to try to calm me daown but nothing was working because i wanted my daddy and when I needed him most in my life he was at home sleeping or waiting for us to get home. They gave me a teddy bear and also a blanket because I was in major shock. Finally they took me first in the ambulance to the hospital because I was in shock. I was so scared! i can't even explain how scared I was. If I ever thought I was going to die it was that night. The drunk driver got lifeflighted which he didn't need to be and the rest of us went by ambulance. When i got to the hospital they gave me x-rays and everyone else and found out that we only had scarpes and bruises and no broken bones, thank God!! They let us go home that night but since we were closer to my gram's house we stayed there and plus we had no car. I was a mess when I went to sleep, I had soda in my hair and other stuff. I feel asleep in my gram's bed and my ma asked me the next morning if I had any nightmares about what happened that night and I told her not that I can think of and she told me that during the night while I was sleeping she told me I talked in my sleep when they turned the hall light on I was like mom turn off the head lights. I never knew I had said that. We waited for my dad to get there that day and we went to go check out my ma's van. It was very emotional for my family that day. My dad just couldn't believe my Aunt's words the night before so you can just imagine how he felt that day. When I first say the van I was like hoe could we have surived that car accident? The van was totaled! It looked so horrble! All the windows were broke except my sister's window. Let me remind you she didn't have her seat belt on at all the night before. Her window didn't have a crack even in it. It was like she was protected by and angel or God! It was amazing!! I didn't explain all that happened that night of the accident but there are some details of it and if I were to explain everything that happened you might be crying, so now I hope you know not to drink and drive because it could've killed me, my family, and the exchange student who was staying with us for a year. If that drunk driver ever killed anyone I love so much in my family i don't think i could ever live with that and I don'ty think I would be able to forgive him for awhile or my whole life. But God is awesome! He saved my family from dying and also kept his hand upon all the other people involved in the accident. But the wholeaccident thing gave me a new look on life and everything.
