The kind that comes from being alone,
From no one caring.
The kind that grows all around you,
And inside you,
Until it swallows up everything you know,
Loved,
And used to love you.
This is me.
Nothing matters anymore.
My world spins around me,
Black.
Flashbacks of past rejections,
Painful Scenes,
Swarm around me and sting like bees.
Blinded and ashamed
Living in a constant trance,
In a silenced world,
Muted by depression.
Oblivious to all around me;
I see but do not see,
Hear but do not hear.
My senses are dulled,
Glazed over.
Building walls to block out the world,
To block out the light,
Leaving me in darkness.
Slowly,
Brick by brick
Day by day,
My walls get thicker,
Higher,
Completing my isolation.
I am truly alone.
Hi, my name is Kristie, I'm 14. I wrote this poem during the worst phase of my depression. I was very suicidal, and i cut myself a lot. I once attempted suicide by taking a bottle of asprin, and it was because I really did feel like i was alone. Depression sucks, and if theres anyone out there who wants to talk, i want to help. I'm getting better through the help of my friends and boyfriend, but if those kinds of people have failed you, reaching out to a stranger can really help too.
