4 Basic Freedoms---In Honor Of 9/11/2001
Rating:

Freedom From Fear
Freedom From Want
Freedom Of Speech
Freedom Of Worship
This is America.
That is everything we stand for.
Sept 11, 2001 someone tried to take that away. Only they forgot something that isnt a freedom that is the basis of all those things. Our spirit and our unity.
As many have said in the past weeks since the attack "We Stand United"
And we do, that maybe sound very simplified, but its really quite that simple.
So now that we have all finally come together, we have some things to accomplish.
Freedom of Worship:
First off, no matter your way of worship say a prayer, or at the very least include the victims in your thoughts.
Freedom of Speech:
Speak out, let people of the world know why you feel violated, hurt, scared. Explain what course of action you believe shoud be taken. Over all, communicate.
Freedom From Want:
This one can take on many different meanings in this current situation, but I will tell you a story I heard, and make of it what you will.
On the day of the attack I was glued to the television like most of America, but one story (out of many) that touched my heart was of a man who walked up to a group of Red Cross volunteers who were excepting donations. This man gave them all the money he had. This man was homeless. And still he gave all he could.
Dont get me wrong, I'm not telling you to run out and donate all your money, I'm just saying that at the very least stay as compassionate as we have been and more than likely we will never be defeated.
And last but not least,
Freedom From Fear:
Although, to some extent this one has been violated in one of the worst ways imaginable, I like to think of it this way:
Yes, we have been attacked, for a while to come we will be scared, I know that whenever I hear a plane overhead I look up in apprehension and get prepared for all hell to break loose. But, look at the distance our people and government have gone to try and reverse the fear that has been placed in our hearts. Hundreds of volunteers, firefighters, medics, and police officers are still out there digging through rubble. They dont have to be, but they are. Beyond everything, and in spite of everything, I KNOW that if, and thats an IF, anything else does happen, that I can rely on something I never thought I could before now. The kindness in a strangers heart. And at a time like this, thats saying a lot.
All I'm saying, and over all asking, is to continue having faith in our country. I understand that this country isnt perfect, but no country is, and personally I feel a lot better off living here than I would else where. I know we have made mistakes and at times taken the wrong course of action(s). But, once again, hasnt every country? I have a lot of respect for this country, and all the men and women who have given their lives for it and fought for it. And I, as I hope you do, refuse to give up in the face of heartache and fear. We will overcome. We have in the past we will now, we cant let men who chose to remain nameless in an act of cowardice over throw us. That would be letting many die in vain, including those from September 11, and from years past.
In closing I have one thing to say, God Bless America, and of course those who have passed.
