A 1st Break-up

I just receantly had my first break-up. We went out for just over a month, but he was my friend before we started going out. I promised him at the begining, that we would stay friends when it was all over. Well, that is a hard promise to keep. I didn't think it would be, but now I know. the first day after we broke up, he made serious attempts to make things normal again. He talked to me and my friends in the hall, and even came to my class during our block-period break like he always used to. It was different though. He told me that he felt really bad about doing that to me, and he wished he hadn't had to break up with me. He even told my friend that he loves me very much, but as a friend. Now, when I see him though, there's just an okward silence. And he talks to me more now then when we were going out. I'm trying though, and I think eventually we will be friends. But for now, things are just to hard. I found a poem on here that I think explains how I feel:

I can't talk to you anymore.
It's not that I'm mad at you,
It's just that when I talk to you,
I realize how much I love you.
And when I realize how much I love you,
I realize that I can't have you.
And that makes me love you even more.
