Childhood Memories of your Best Friend

I remember the days,
the days when I was a child,
I had a best friend,
who always made me smile.
We did everything together,
I remember the first day we met,
in preschool by our little cubbies,
that I will never forget.
We were exactly alike,
both fun but shy,
I knew then we'd be friends,
friends until the day I'd die.
I remember having a club,
playing dress up and building a fort,
sometimes we'd have so much fun,
we'd laugh so hard we'd snort.
We didn't care what clothes we wore,
because we'd be together thick and thin,
we didn't care what music we listened to,
even if it wasn't "in".
You were shoulder to cry on,
when my grandmother passed away,
you knew how I felt,
and told me it would be okay.
United we'd stand,
together we'd get grounded,
we shared secrets,
some made us a little astounded.
I thought we'd always be friends,
until the year we went to Jr. High,
you met some new people,
because you were know longer shy.
Soon I was the one always calling you,
that was when our friendship started to fall,
I always got canceled plans,
and an unreturned phone call.
We got to high school,
and started hanging out with different friends,
each of us diverse people,
following different trends.
We soon were never speaking,
not doing the things we used to do,
no more fun summers and laughs,
after all we had been through.
I just want you to know,
when our lives change from whatever,
like growing apart,
we will still be friends forever.
