A few words to open your eyes about swimming...

Ok guys... I always had the biggest respect for athletes.  As I grew older I began to REALLY respect runners and swimmers.  First of all, swimmers and runners get such little credit, it's unbelievable.  I understand that all sports are underestimated in some respect but i hate always feeling inferior to the football players and everyone else.  In case you haven't guessed, i'm a swimmer and one of the most dedicated that you'll ever find.. I'm not a runner (cant run for my life) even though I wish I could.  Swimming has been my life since 2nd grade and I hate having my dreams shattered by trash talkers that don't know anything abotu the sport.  I grew up in a football-obsessed town even though the highschool team sucks!  The problem is, the siwm team has a national record... we havent lost a dual meet in years and the record is 166-0.  So why doesn't everyone care about swimming?  I just don't know.  Swimming is pain, glory, guts, pride, failures, wins, tears, laughs, friends, enemies, coaches, workouts and just flat-out pain.  Everyone needs to open their eyes and mind and see what other sports are all about... I've been through more than a lot of people with my sport.  It takes a lot to get in that pool and keep going when your lungs, eyes, arms, legs, abs, feet, head abd EVERYTHING else hurts but instead of slowing down you HAVE to go faster.  Outside stimuly is limited to your fogged vision and blocked ear drums.  My life is basically eat-sleep-swim and I could care less, I'd just like some credit for it.
