You're my son, and forever it will be.
Although I don't know you yet,
I hope to get a glimpse.
Though there are some things you should learn,
From a father like this.
You will be a father; someday I hope to see,
But make sure you're here forever,
So we can spend plenty of time together.
Playing footy, golf, tennis or whatever it may be,
I know I'll be your true best friend,
I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
I know when I was a kid,
I didn't get to know my old dad,
But I wish I did, so forever I will stand.
I will stand to the heavens and the skies,
And pray to my dad, 'please come back, come back for good…'
I wish I got to know, the person who I looked up to,
I wish, I hope, you'd look up to me, too
Whenever you may leave
Promise me you'll be here
To comfort and console.
I'm sure you will please,
And I hope we shall never cease.
So we can look the world in the eye,
And say to together,
Thank god it's only, you and I.
