When we got home that night we lay at the end of my cousins bed on a mattress, hoping to put an end to our so far.."happy" night.
But little did we know, tragedy strikes the best of us... My uncle has a police scanner in that bedroom, so we could hear if anything bad happened. We did.
We heard a voice come over the speaker saying that their had been a wreck on Hwy. 49, the passnger was injured. Then amazingly... My cousin anditas car type came to description! Along with her name and license plate number...
We all jumped up and went to the living room. Sarah got on the phone dialing everyone she could think of, then she called Austins grandma, who said that Lee (autins father) came to pick him up in De-De's car. He was drunk & they did nothing! The grandmother buckled him in, and let him go. This may be what kills us all, bad judgment!
Lee was driving way too fast on a very curvy road at a very late hour in the dark! He wasn't thinking of his son! Only of his self!
They ran off the road and struck a tree at a very high peed,the y flipped over a couple times and then stopped at a tree.Austin was thrown from the car, leaving his carseat behind. He landed smack on the pavement where his tiny head gushed, and his daddy... still safely in the car with nothing! They took Austin to the Hospital where he was announced dead... Lee, was on the other hand re-leased the next day! Im glad he can say he made it through b/c our family has lost a baby who could light up a room with just one smile, flashing our enormous family dimples! He wanted to be a cowboy, and play the guitar like unlcle Kev. At the funeral our family kept peace... but it was hard! Lee's mother smiled and talked of her other grandchildren while one of the nost precious layed in front of her dead. His face was bruised, his cheeks no longer pudgy, and his dimples where gone... i cried until my eyes swelled shut. After the funeral we went to see the car and when we did i felt a part of my heart fall to my stomache! Austins Blood was everywhere, his brains smushed to the back side window, and the buckle to hold him in was ripped completely out. Lee was caught 3 times for "DUI" before he went to court! And they gave him nothing! Nothing! I hoped for life.. for him to think about what hes done and why it happened! But instead.. hes out, free! and austie is in heaven playing with baby angels, and try as i may i could never understand why some one could live knowing they've killed someones everything! Even if it meant nothin to them! plz respond to this....
