16 years, 9 months and 5 days. That's all Laurie got to spend with us. Her life was cut short by a drunk driver, her boyfriend. It was around 3:15am on a Saturday morning, January 12,2002. They were in her car headed home. Her boyfriend had been drinking. He was going very fast on a small backroad. He wrecked and ran from the scene and left Laurie there to die. He didn't even try to get any help for her. How could you leave your girlfriend, whom you supposedly love, there to die? It was a cold and heartless act. The autopsy report showed that Laurie had not been drinking. All that was in her system was caffeine. She was a smart girl. I don't believe she got into that car on her own free will. But that's just my opinion. They only sentenced him to 1 year in regional jail, 6 months to 2 years  the Anthony Center, and up to 5 years parole. I think it's just a slap on the wrist. He got let off way too easily. That's okay, he'll get whats comin to him when he has to face God . . . ;o)
Laurie was one of the greatest people I knew. She always had a smile on her face, even in times of trouble. I loved walkin down the hall and seeing her smiling face say hi and wave to me. When we got to Liberty we never could seem to get any classes togetherI guess it was just our luck. We weren't as close as we had been in middle school. But I know I could still count on her for anything. She was so full of life and had so many dreams and goals for herself. The gang would always go and stay at Laurie's house over the weekend. Jan  Rick are such wonderful people. You could think of them as your own parents Jeremy is so much fun to pick on We always had tons of laughs when he was around. There was never a dull moment at Laurie's house.
I know now though, that she's in a better place. God is takin care of her and she's watching over us. She will always be terribly missed. But she has left her "footprint" in our hearts I dont think anyone could ever forget her. I know I won't. I love you so much Lor  I miss you terribly ((and im sure i could speak for everyone else when I say that too :o) ))
